Zero Waste: Our Commitment to the Environment

Lasala Plaza Hotel is firmly committed to sustainability in all its facets. For this reason, from the beginning we have set objectives to be assumed in all our lines of business activity; objectives which include commitments like circular economy waste management, the use of proximity purchase criteria, and the promotion of responsible consumption amongst those who are part of the Lasala Plaza team. 

With this horizon as our premise, we consider caring for the environment to be an imperative collective challenge. Since our opening, we have adopted measures such as generating our own geothermal and solar energy, contracting 100% renewable energy, and 'Zero Paper' policies in favour of digital communication through the use of QR codes.

We have also implemented the Zero Skan method by Bilibin, to firmly take up the Zero Waste challenge. And we could not be more satisfied with the results of our first steps.

Zero Skan seeks to minimise waste and the impact of our carbon footprint. Its implementation has brought us to analyse our entire purchasing policy, a task which our suppliers have been cooperative with. We have also reviewed our infrastructures, as well as our electricity and water supply contracts and expenses. The benefits have not been long in coming, and we are very satisfied with our workers' commitment to sustainability, the reception of this initiative by our customers, and the response of our environment.

Our desire is to continue working so that our business activity is respectful with the environment and we can be proud of joining the global fight to take care of our planet.

 

Lasala Plaza Participates in the Zero Plastik Initiative by the San Sebastián Town Hall

In addition, Lasala Plaza is part of the project presented by the San Sebastián City Hall's Environment Department for the prevention of waste and the improvement of its management.

 

This initiative supports a growing sector and provides materials and tools to support the implementation of sustainable measures such as:

  • Compilation of good practices on responsible consumption, waste production, waste management, etc.
  • Support materials for staff training and awareness. 
  • Support materials for making customers aware of the measures adopted in the hotel in terms of waste management prevention and improvement.
